BUZZING ABOUT MANCHESTER THIS OCTOBER
After many months in the planning, we’re so excited to let you know about our new campaign BreastFest! Timed to coincide with Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, BreastFest is a unique and innovative awareness and fundraising campaign to make Greater Manchester the most breast-aware region in the UK, if not the world.
BreastFest will educate women about breast cancer risks and equip them with a toolkit to better breast health, whilst protecting our daughters, granddaughters and every generation to come from this devastating disease.
Working alongside cancer charity campaigner and Prevent supporter Margo Cornish, our goal is to give women the knowledge they need to understand the risk factors that can lead to breast cancer and to educate them about the symptoms.
With the help of BooBee, our official mascot for BreastFest, we aim to pollinate awareness, fundraise & spread our wings across Manchester and beyond & you too can BEE involved, see below to find out how!

THANK YOU ALTRINCHAM!
For the second year running, the people of Altrincham have done us proud, raising over £15,000 for Prevent Breast Cancer by painting their town pink from 24th February to 3rd March.
Sixty organisations came together, generating this huge sum for our charity while raising awareness of breast cancer research. Hundreds of people from local businesses, sports groups, schools and other organisations held events, put on special offers and decorated shop fronts, all with our pink theme.
Storm Ice Hockey kicked the campaign off with a ‘pink the rink’ match. Players dressed in their finest pink jerseys as they took on the Sheffield Steelers (and won!).
Pink activities included Tre Ciccio restaurant renaming their Sud Pizza ‘The Pink’ and donating all proceeds, a sell-out fashion show at Gran T’s Coffee House arranged by Juice Nursery with help from the Style Junkie boutique. Plus cakes, networking and tutus as the businesses of Century Business Park came together. Altrincham Grammar School for Boys and Altrincham Grammar School for Girls organised everything from static bike rides to raffles.
So whether you gave up your time to organise an event or went along to show your support, it’s a heartfelt thanks from everyone at Prevent Breast Cancer. We’re already planning next year’s event which will be held from 8th to 15th March 2020.
THE TOUGHEST CHALLENGE YET FOR TEAM PBC?
The Prevent Breast Cancer team would like to say good luck and a very big thanks to James Harvey and Tom Allen who on the 15th June will begin their incredible challenge of cycling across America in just 8 days!
This truly is the challenge of a lifetime and one James and Tom have set themselves to raise a staggering £125,000 for our charity’s research into preventing breast cancer.
We’re in awe of James and Tom and their courage and determination. They have an amazing support crew who will be giving up their time and most of their sleep over 8 days to ensure the guys are safe and well looked after.
We can’t wait to receive updates on how they are getting on. Please keep a look out on our social media channels from the 15th. And of course, there’s still time to support James and Tom by visiting: www.raceacrossamericachallenge.com/donate
MORECAMBE BAY WALK 2019
Walking across Morecambe Bay is something you should experience at least once in your life! It’s a unique walk across the largest expanse of tidal mudflats and sand in the UK, taking in the stunning views of the Bay itself, the Lancashire coastline and the Lake District. We’d love you to join us on our sponsored walk here on Sunday 8th September.
Places on the walk cost £15 and the money raised will help us prevent breast cancer for future generations. There is no minimum sponsorship target for the walk but once you raise over £30, we’ll give you one of our Prevent Breast Cancer charity t-shirts to wear with pride on the day.
Setting off from Arnside Promenade and arriving at Kent’s Bank near Grange over Sands, the walk is approximately 8 miles and takes around 3-4 hours. The walk ends at the beautiful Lambert Manor Hotel, a 19th-century building in stunning landscaped gardens overlooking Morecambe Bay and you’ll enjoy refreshments here included in the price of your ticket.
BOOKING YOUR PLACE
Our Morecambe Bay Walk is always a popular event and we have limited places available, so please book your place now to avoid disappointment. You can book online on our website: www.preventbreastcancer.org.uk/morecambebay or by calling 0161 291 4400.
MAKE THIS THE YEAR YOU WRITE YOUR WILL FOR FREE
A will is one of the most important documents you’ll ever write but over 40% of us don’t have one according to a 2018 survey by Macmillan Cancer Support. Should you pass away without a will in place, your loved ones may not benefit in the way that you, or they would have hoped.
While thinking, talking and planning for death may feel uncomfortable, consider how much worse the situation would be if you died or became incapacitated without putting your affairs in order. Once your will is written, you can forget about it and enjoy life, secure in the knowledge that your loved ones will be looked after in the future. And if you take advantage of our free will service with Sinclair Law, you’ll be guided through the process by the experts, completely free of charge.
Prevent Breast Cancer will pay the solicitor’s fees for your will, enabling you to access the professional advice and guidance from specialised wills solicitors Sinclair Law, at no cost. There is no obligation to leave a gift in your will to our charity or make a donation when using this service, but we’d be very grateful if you’d consider it. The help of our supporters means that Prevent Breast Cancer can continue our preventative research and fight against breast cancer.
To write or update your will for free, simply visit: www.preventbreastcancer.org.uk/donate/gift-in-your-will
Once approved Sinclair Law will complete your will for signing. Please note, if during discussions it becomes apparent that your instructions are more complex than a simple will, you’ll be asked to pay the difference between the nominal fee paid for by Prevent Breast Cancer and the actual fee.
