Storm Players Paint Altrincham Pink

We are absolutely delighted that Altrincham joined our Paint Your Town Pink campaign between 12th-18th March 2018, helping to raise over £12,000 in funding for Prevent Breast Cancer. We could not be happier with the response as over 70 businesses took part by holding events, putting on special ‘pink’ offers or by decorating their shop fronts with glorious bunting. Even sports clubs got involved with the fun, with the Alty Finches U16s playing in pink for the week during a snowstorm and members of the burly Manchester Storm Ice Hockey team donning tutus and fundraising to prevent breast cancer (see above!!).

Local businesses had so many great ideas – for example BrightNewMe excelled themselves by raising over £650 through their prize draw and Porta Tapas created a beautiful pink croqueta dish for their menu, raising £350 in total.

The packed schedule of events during the week had something for everyone. Activities included the play ‘Tits Up’ at Gran T’s Coffee House, written by two doctors who have both come through breast cancer, a Pink Networking Event with the South Manchester Business Association, a social at Timperley Sports Club and a pink children’s party at Altrincham FC. Manchester Storm helped us put on a big finish at the SilvPaint Altrincham Pink Porta Tapaser Blades Ice Rink during their end-of-season match.

Even the schools got involved as Altrincham Grammar School for Boys put on a Pink Week which raised almost £1500! The week even saw a sports day which pitched the boys and girls grammar schools against each other just for fun.

We all had fun despite the unseasonably cold weather with an icy wind and snowstorms throughout the week. Even our volunteers with an outdoor stall at Altrincham Market put a very brave face on it! Thanks to Sugo for providing them with nice hot tea to warm them up.

Alrincham, you were absolutely wonderful and so welcoming to our charity. We are incredibly grateful for the lengths you went to help make breast cancer a thing of the past. To learn more about the research you have helped to fund, please click here.
