Meet Lucy Pavitt, 10, one of our youngest and most inspiring supporters.
Lucy decided she wanted to raise money for Prevent Breast Cancer after her Mum was diagnosed with the disease in 2016. Lucy’s story is so heartwarming, that the best way to read it is in her own words.
In October last year my mummy was diagnosed with Breast Cancer and I want to do my bit to help raise money for the research into this disease.
Prevent Breast Cancer is the only UK charity funding ground-breaking research solely aimed at preventing breast cancer for future generations. Their research will one day bring about a world where breast cancer is preventable and thousands are saved from ever experiencing this terrible disease.
My Mummy had 16 treatments of Chemotherapy so I plan on running 16km in recognition of this. Her treatment was on a Thursday and lasted two hours so I plan to run 2km every Thursday for the next eight weeks. I don’t do a lot of running so this will be quite a challenge for me!
I would like to try and raise £150 for Prevent Breast Cancer.
Lucy completed her eighth and final run in July 2017, joined by her Mum, Dad and Sister. She sailed past her target and raised a total of £665!
We asked Lucy’s Dad Neal how she found the whole experience:
She has enjoyed the running but found it tough. Tough as she’s not a runner and tough fitting it in round all her other commitments, particularly the shows she’s been in recently but she is very proud to have completed it and raised a lot more money then she thought she would.
We are so proud of Lucy, and so thankful for her support.
