For the second time in two years, LCap’s incredible ‘Team Empower’ laced up their dancing shoes and hit the floor for a 12-hour danceathon, all in support of our National Breast Imaging Academy campaign. With 36 passionate dancers moving non-stop, their energy and commitment lit up the room and helped raise vital funds.

Team Empower is the fundraising arm of the Empowering Women Network, founded by Prevent Breast Cancer Ambassador, Louise Stephenson. This inspiring network brings together senior female leaders, united by a shared mission to make a difference.

But dancing is just the beginning! From quiz nights and the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge to zip wires, tandem skydives, and even bungee jumps, Team Empower continues to push boundaries, all to support life-saving breast cancer prevention work.

Every Step Told  A Story

The danceathon began at 12 noon, setting the stage for an unforgettable day. The room buzzed with excitement, filled with fabulous dance outfits, some delightfully retro, bringing back the flair of the ‘80s. The atmosphere was electric, brimming with fun, positivity, and emotion. Live performances by singers Anita Ryan and Cole Page, along with dynamic DJ sets from Mark One, Wolf Mars, Holly Jay, and Penny Power, kept the energy high. Dance-themed hours and interactive lessons added to the celebration, making it a truly joyful and impactful event.

Throughout the challenge, participants openly shared their personal reasons for taking part. Many spoke of loved ones, friends, or of their own experiences with breast cancer. These heartfelt stories created powerful moments of reflection and connection, reminding everyone just how widespread the impact of this disease is across the UK. It was deeply moving and a powerful testament to the importance of the work Prevent Breast Cancer is doing.

LCap’s ‘Team Empower’ has proudly supported Prevent Breast Cancer for the past three years, dedicating their incredible fundraising efforts to our National Breast Imaging Academy campaign. Their contributions are helping to train the next generation of breast clinicians and radiologists, a vital step in tackling the current workforce shortage. With more trained specialists, we can deliver more mammograms, drive more research, and ultimately, save more lives.

A USE 2

Louise Stephenson, Prevent Breast Cancer Ambassador and Empowering Women Network founder said:

This is our second danceathon and it continues to grow from strength to strength.  It is a great, uplifting and fun event where alongside the dancing, everyone had the chance to make new connections. Many of our dancers from last year returned for a second time, as like me, they feel closely aligned with the charity’s mission to prevent breast cancer for future generations.

The challenge officially ended at midnight, and by that point, some participants had clocked up an incredible 40,000 steps – the equivalent of running a marathon. Truly awe-inspiring! Beyond the physical achievement, the event forged even deeper bonds among the dancers. New friendships were formed, connections strengthened, and a powerful sense of community emerged, a lasting reminder of the joy and unity that comes from dancing for a cause.

Michelle Mullany, one of the amazing event organisers, said:

A huge thanks to the Prevent Breast Cancer team for all their support to help us make the danceathon a fantastic fundraising success.

To date, these incredible dancers have raised over £51,000, an extraordinary achievement that everyone at Prevent Breast Cancer is deeply grateful for. A heartfelt thank you goes out to each and every one of them. Thanks to their dedication and generosity, we’re one step closer to opening the doors of the National Breast Imaging Academy later this year.

Louise added:

We recently launched an additional networking event in Leeds like the one we have in Manchester, and when we told the attendees of our danceathon,  they too expressed an interest in holding their own event.  We believe there is an even bigger opportunity to have danceathons throughout the country raising money for Prevent Breast Cancer. If this is something that you would be interested in getting involved with, please get in touch via the charity as we would love to work with you to make this happen and see this event grow.

A huge amount of preparation went into making this incredible event a success, thanks to the dedication and hard work of Louise Stephenson, Michelle Mullany, and Helen Fish. We’re also immensely grateful to Bonded Warehouse and Reform Radio, who played a vital role by generously hosting the event and providing top-tier DJs and equipment that kept the energy high throughout the day.

To hear how you can get involved and help us raise awareness or vital funds with your business or community, please get in touch.
