We are lucky enough at Prevent Breast Cancer to have relationships with some fantastic companies and organisations! Have a look at how our partners support us.
This page is dedicated to some of these business – and here you can find out what they are doing to support us.
Please consider joining this elite bunch of businesses who are all helping to create a breast cancer free future for the next generation.
I am Ailsa, a local wedding and portrait photographer. I was introduced to Prevent Breast Cancer (formerly known as Genesis Breast Cancer Prevention) when my sister was diagnosed with breast cancer and had a double mastectomy. Soon after I went for a family risk assessment and was found to have a higher than usual risk for cancer, I now have annual mammograms as a result.
I think the emphasis on prevention is so important – It encourages people to take control of their lives and fosters hope.
I love telling peoples stories through photographs and I’m looking forward to documenting events and supporters journeys, and in turn, raising awareness and supporting the vital work that Prevent Breast Cancer do.Close

LIVE WINE, LOVE PEOPLE
In theory, we’re a wine business, but really, we’re a people business. Our wine is the product of our people.
They travel the world over. They grow, harvest, make, blend and bottle. They build fantastic relationships with amazing produces. And along the way, they pick up a good story or two. All of which we bottle for you.
It’s taught us that it’s easy to make inexpensive wine. But it’s much more difficult to make good wine inexpensively. Yet this is what we pursue with passion. Because we all believe all people should be able to drink good wine.
We are wine people after all.
At Boutinot, we try quite hard to have a personality rather than a corporate identity. Our DNA is a special mix of people and wines, and we intend to keep it that way. Our business evolves around our values and passion for great quality. Our people share the values we place on our wines – authentic, individual, slightly wonky or different at times, but always with a heart. Boutinot is a vibrant and growing international business, full of passionate and friendly people, who are want to make a difference.
Here are a few words from Michelle at Boutinot –
After speaking to the charity and reading all the information, I realised that the statistics of the disease are a lot worse than I knew. The work that Prevent Breast Cancer do helping those affected with their everyday lives is amazing and I wanted to help. Whilst the amount I could do was little it was still a little more help. If I could only raise enough for one person to have a scan then that is one person helped!
As a business we do support a couple of charities already but this is one close to my heart, one that I personally wanted to help to continue to make changes to people’s lives.Close
When BCL Office Moving moved Genesis Breast Cancer Prevention and the Nightingale Centre from Withington Hospital to Wythenshawe Hospital in 2007, BCL Managing Director Rod Seeland and stepson Mike Bellis were both hands-on with the move. They had no way of knowing how important Genesis [Now Prevent Breast Cancer] would become to their family.
In 2010, Rod’s sister-in-law Tracy Thornley wasdiagnosed with breast cancer. It was in remission until December 2012, when the devastating news arrived that it had spread to her spine, pelvis and femur.
Rod and his wife Ange felt moved to do something, and decided to run the 2013 Bupa Great Manchester Run to raise money for Prevent Breast Cancer. At the same time, BCL’s parent company, John Bradshaw & Son, were looking for a charity they could support and assist.
With their personal and professional ties to the charity, it was an easy choice to select Genesis as the chosen charity for the company. John Bradshaw & Son have two businesses: BCL Office Moving and Britannia Bradshaw International Removals & Storage. BCL Office Moving is a commercial removals and archive storage company with offices in Manchester, Birmingham and London.
Britannia Bradshaw International Removals & Storage is a household removals company with offices in Manchester and Birmingham. As removal companies, there are BCL and Britannia Bradshaw trucks on the road every day in towns and cities throughout the UK, as well as in Europe. So it was fantastic news to hear that they would be painting a van from each brand in Genesis pink! These trucks have the Genesis logo, website and JustGiving information on them, along with the corporate branding, helping to raise awareness of the charity up and down the UK, and beyond.
Mike Andrews, Managing Director of John Bradshaw & Son explained why the company chose such a public and long-term commitment to Prevent Breast Cancer: “It is easy to say we support a charity and simply donate money from time to time. We’ve always raised money for various charities, but we wanted our staff to feel they’re a part of something important and that we’re doing more than simply looking at profits. With 1 in 10 women affected by breast cancer, everyone will be touched by it at some point in their lives. We’re hoping our partnership with Genesis [now Prevent Breast Cancer] will help make a difference in reducing that number. “
Rod Seeland, Managing Director of BCL says about the partnership: “It is an honour to be able to assist Genesis [now Prevent Breast Cancer] by getting their name out in front of the public and raise awareness for the great work being done.”
So please look out for the two large Pink Genesis Removal trucks, which are driving around the country now!

Considered one of the UK’s most disruptive cycle wear brands, Fat Lad At The Back has become synonymous with inclusivity; empowering and clothing a diverse cross section of cyclists and triathletes.
Unable to find cycle wear to fit Richard Bye launched the brand along with his wife Lynn in late 2013 and the couple have focused their attention on creating sportswear with exceptional fit, in figure flattering designs in up to 11 different (mens and women’s) sizes.
“We’re not just breaking the mold of the typical cyclist says Lynn, we’re literally creating new ones in all shapes and sizes. We don’t differentiate between young/old, fat/thin, beginner/pro – we simply make sportswear in all sizes, because all sizes of people do sports.”
Fat Lad At The Back was originally Richard’s cycling nick-name and the brand has grown a highly engaged and active social community (known as The Bulge) who support and encourage each other onto their bikes and into activity.
Despite the tongue in cheek name, the brand is serious about it’s cycle wear, using premium technical fabrics and ensuring that it’s range is ethically manufactured in Europe and the UK.
The FLAB annual big fat bike ride has become known as the friendliest Sportive in the cycling calendar and sees over 1000 ‘mates’ – many of whom have never met – going on a days bike ride together, through the glorious Yorkshire countryside.
“You only have to see how FLAB wearing cyclists interact with each other when they first meet, to appreciate how we are breaking down barriers and connecting people and to realise that we’re much more than just a cycle wear brand.” adds Richard.Close

The reason I chose Prevent Breast Cancer is that I have been interested in supporting it before, but I previously supporting 2 children’s charities. Recently a very close friend died of breast cancer, as unfortunately she had the type that was not curable. She was a doctor also, having helped so many people, she was unable to survive to help herself, no one could. It is so simple – if women could only detect breast cancer early, especially if there is history already in the family.
If we can help raise some awareness and encourage other companies to help, there will be more ripples on the pond.Close

Mediacom is a Content and Connections Agency who in 2016, helped Prevent Breast Cancer improve all aspects of our digital presence, and all pro-bono!
Prevent Breast Cancer are so grateful to Mediacom for all their support and involvement with the charity. Our digital presence is truly thanks to them!
They describe themselves as:
We believe that everything is connected. And that means a media agency has to think and operate in an entirely new way. So new that we don’t even call ourselves a media agency anymore. We call ourselves The Content + Connections Agency.
That’s our shorthand way of saying that we have a unique approach to planning and buying across paid, owned and earned media, which can optimise our clients’ entire system of content and connections – not just the individual channel silos within them.
For us, “content” is the fuel for high-performing communications systems. It refers to any form of consumer messaging that connects brands with their consumers. “Connections” is how we guide the content around the system. It’s about having a closed-loop distribution strategy, ensuring there are no dead ends or wastage.
We do this by taking a step back and seeing the bigger picture, designing the content with the connection in mind.
We call this Systems Thinking – and it’s proven to transform communications effectiveness.Close
Mini Sport Ltd. is the world’s premier Mini specialist, servicing more than 100 countries with Mini parts as well as restoration, repair and servicing of Minis. Astonishingly, it remains a family business and is based in Lancashire. You can find out more here.
Celebrating its 50th anniversary in business, the company decided to host a special silent auction for Prevent Breast Cancer after its founder, Heather Harper, successfully battled breast cancer under the care of our very own chairman, Lester Barr. Mini Sport auctioned off 20 unique and intricate aluminium models which were made in their factory.
Replicas of the historic rally Mini ‘NCK’, the aluminium models took around 600 hours to design and manufacture. They became the table centrepieces at the company’s anniversary gala before being silently auctioned, with the 20 highest bidders each walking away with this unique piece of Mini history and raising over £21,000 for the charity during the fundraiser.
This auction helped to raise a staggering £21,000 for Prevent Breast Cancer. The company have also chosen to make Prevent Breast Cancer their charity of the year.
Heather said: “When we celebrated 50 years in business, the family decided to make part of the evening a fundraising event, and asked me which charity I most wanted to support. I had no hesitation in putting forward Prevent Breast Cancer. For myself, my husband and family, it is a small gesture of appreciation for all the care and understanding extended by Mr Barr and his team during the past two and half years, and still ongoing. It’s important to me to help fund current research which will hopefully result in saving others in the years ahead.”
We are incredibly grateful to Mini Sport for their support and look forward to continuing to work with them in the future.Close

Roberts Bakery have been long term supporters of Prevent Breast Cancer and we know we wouldn’t be where we are today without their help!
In 2015-16 they carried dedicated pink packaging and messaging across five million wholemeal loaves and raised £50,000 to help fund our ground-breaking gene-based research. Click here to find out more.
Lindsay Occleston, a member of the Roberts family of bakers, tells us how they have been supporting the charity since 2010.
Roberts Bakery is a family business based in the heart of Cheshire since 1887. While we’re kept busy making delicious bread, rolls and bakery treats for the people of Cheshire and beyond, the staff are also committed to supporting good causes. In 2010, almost by accident, we happened to be introduced to Prevent Breast Cancer and several of us said what a fantastic charity it would be to support. And from there a partnership was born!
Our first fundraising event was our inaugural charity ball in September 2011. The ball attracted 250 guests, with live entertainment and dancing into the small hours. We were delighted that this first attempt raised £23,000 for Prevent Breast Cancer. It meant that Roberts Bakery was able to fund the first of a three year study into genetic variants and breast density, both of which are believed to be factors that can cause breast cancer.
So as 2012 loomed, the staff thought what shall we try this year?! This time we decided to participate in the Million Miles Challenge and get active to support the charity. After much deliberating, a group of us thought it would be a great idea to cycle from the bakery in Northwich to the base of Snowdon, then walk up the mountain to the summit (and the highest peak in England and Wales!) the following day. With the cycle and walk taking place in midsummer, the staff hoped the sun would be shining and the weather would be warm as we took on our challenge. How wrong we were! A team of 25 or so cyclists battled our way through harsh winds and constant rain to reach Snowdon and the following day, we were joined by another 20 hardy participants to walk 3500 feet into mist and driving rain.
Despite the weather, it was a weekend none of us will forget. We were absolutely over the moon to raise £15,000 for Prevent Breast Cancer and privileged to see this money go towards the PROCAS Study.
We all look forward to the day when breast cancer is consigned to history and knowing that we have played our part in helping make 1 in 9, none in 9.

Breast cancer is a disease that unfortunately touches so many people each year and the positive impact this charity has in the local community is a key reason why we received so many votes for Prevent Breast Cancer to become our charity partner.
