The Giant Walk – Hale to Hale
Join team Prevent Breast Cancer on the Giant Walk, a unique 42km lowland marathon. The funds you raise will help us to get ahead of breast cancer.
The Giant Walk is a unique 42km full distance charity lowland marathon from Hale on Mersey to Hale Cheshire, along a beautiful flat waterside route. It is an open event for fundraisers to walk for a charity of their choice – and we would love you to walk for us!
The start area is by Hale Lighthouse at the Mersey Estuary and you will walk through the village of Hale, passing the Giant Childe of Hale statue before joining the Mersey Way for the first waterside stretch. The second waterway section follows the Ship Canal, after which you join the sheltered Trans-Pennine trail. There are planned rest/feed/WC stops along the way with a lunch stop in the picturesque village of Stockton on Heath at halfway.
The final leg of the Giant Walk takes you through Lymm and Dunham into Hale, ending at the Millennium Clock. The walk will be supported by a coach where you can store belongings. The coach will have a WC on board and will meet walkers several times during the day. Kit/food/water can be left on the coach, and walkers will have access to the WC at stops.
