Have you got what it takes to be crowned the next Street Food Masterchef?
2018 saw the first Masterchef Street Food challenge take place at Food Sorcery in Didsbury in support of Prevent Breast Cancer.
There were two dates to choose from, with the first challenge taking place on Monday 5th February, and the second one taking place two days later on Wednesday 7th February.
Both evenings went down an absolute storm, with chefs competing in teams of two as they battled against other in a Street Market Style cook off.
Each team of chefs had to design their own dish, practice, and then on their particular night, conquer the opposition with their skill, finesse, and inventiveness. Each team had to make two dishes, and were given access to a hob and an oven, one metre of work bench, plus basic kitchen equipment.
The challenge included a 90-minute cooking time and then the chefs had the added pressure of guests arriving in the final 30 minutes to watch and enjoy a drink.
Guests then sampled all the beautifully created dishes, and picked their winners, all washed down with an ice cold beer or a glass of something sparkly.
Due to it being such a fantastic night full of fizz, food and fun, we’re hoping to hold the event once again in the not too distant future. So watch this space, and keep your eye on our social media.
