The Prevent Breast Cancer team would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who came along to our Christmas Celebration at Manchester Cathedral in December – you helped us raise over £8,770.
Hundreds of Prevent Breast Cancer supporters filled the city’s beautiful cathedral, enjoying an event which got young and old alike in the Christmas spirit. We’re so grateful to our performers whose many hours of practice ensured a spectacular show of the finest festive entertainment, packed to the rafters with music, songs and laughter.
The event was superbly hosted by BBC Radio Manchester’s Michelle Eagleton who began the night by introducing a heart-warming nativity play performed by local children. The audience then enjoyed stellar performances from our choirs including Absolute Belters, Simply Voices, children’s choir, Little Belters and the Affetside Choir from Bury. People were up on their feet and singing along to everyone’s favourite Christmas songs with a few other classics thrown in for good measure.
Suzie Qiu from the Royal Northern College of Music performed a stunning viola solo and the Rock Choir rounded off a packed night in style, featuring singers from across Greater Manchester.
Alongside the entertainment, our popular festive marketplace again proved a hit thanks to stallholders including Eat Me Drink Me, Jewellery by Deanne , Solely Soy wax candles, The Body Shop and Choc Manchester. With a range of delicious food and handmade items on offer, this was perfect for picking up a few last minute gifts while enjoying a mince pie and mulled wine.
Thank you to event sponsors Shoosmiths and Excalon, whose generosity meant that this fantastic event could take place and raise such a huge amount for Prevent Breast Cancer. All the money raised will help us to continue our vital research to prevent breast cancer for future generations
