Join us at BreastFest this October!
This October, Prevent Breast Cancer will be hosting the first ever BreastFest! Coinciding with Breast Cancer Awareness Month, it aims to make Greater Manchester the most breast-aware region in the UK.
Alongside philanthropist and Prevent supporter Margo Cornish, we are hoping to equip the women of Manchester with the knowledge to understand the risk factors that can lead to breast cancer, the symptoms of the disease and how to properly check their breasts. It’s also a great opportunity to showcase the city’s world-renowned scientific research into breast cancer prevention, carried out by our scientists and clinicians.
So, how can you get involved in what promises to be an inspirational and exciting month?
The BooBee Bus
Keep your eyes peeled for our bright pink BooBee Bus, which is set to hit the roads of Greater Manchester in October! It will be providing breast cancer awareness advice and equipping women with a toolkit for better breast health. If you’d like the BooBee Bus to make a stop at your workplace, you can sponsor it for £500 a day – perfect for complementing your organisation’s health and wellbeing offering. We’ll be letting you know where the bus will be stopping soon, so watch this space!

The BooBee talk is your chance to meet the scientists and clinicians working hard in Manchester to battle breast cancer, including our very own Gareth Evans, Anthony Howell, James Harvey, Michelle Harvie and Cliona Kirwan!
Learn about recent research advances, how to be more breast aware and put any questions about breast cancer to our panel of experts in the field.
The talk is followed by a drinks reception and our Afternoon Bee, which includes a luxury afternoon tea. You’ll enjoy sparkling entertainment, hear powerful stories and help us realise our vision of creating a future free from breast cancer.
It will feature our inspirational BooBees – 100 women from the North West who’ve all been personally affected by breast cancer. Our BooBees have signed up to take part in BreastFest because they want to use their own personal experience of the disease to promote awareness and help save lives.
As well as a fabulous healthy afternoon tea, developed with Dr Michelle Harvie, author of the 2 -Day Diet, there’ll be plenty of unforgettable entertainment, some of which will involve our amazing BooBees! So get ready for our unmissable Afternoon Bee which will take you on a rollercoaster ride filled with emotion, entertainment and a jaw-dropping finale.

Curated by Margo and her friends Heidi Chapman and Victoria Stead, BreastFest has launched a range of products that have been designed to subtly remind women to be more breast aware. The BeeYou range is a line of natural, organic body products that are the perfect accompaniment to a night of pampering, and they are available as scented or unscented. There is also a variety of beautiful BooBee home accessories – including cushions, wall signs and and handmade glass decorations – as well as t-shirts featuring the queen bee herself! The proceeds go straight to the charity, so why not treat yourself?
Paint Manchester Pink
To celebrate the end of BreastFest, we’ll be transforming Manchester into a sea of pink – but we could do with your help! Whether it’s lighting up your business or logo pink, donning some pink clothes or throwing some pink-themed activities, anything that you can do to paint the city pink will be helping to raise vital awareness and funds.
There are so many ways that you can get involved as a part of BreastFest, and by taking part, you’ll be supporting the ground-breaking work that we do for breast cancer prevention as well as helping protect future generations.
It promises to BEE an amazing event, so join us for BreastFest 2019!
