Our Trustees help guide the charity and provide advice and leadership to the entire charity. Without them, we would not be able to work towards our mission of preventing breast cancer.
Founder and Chairman of Prevent Breast Cancer, Lester Barr, was instrumental in helping to plan and design the Nightingale Centre at the University Hospital of South Manchester complex in Wythenshawe.
Lester is also a Consultant Breast Surgeon with a particular expertise in breast reconstruction. He has recently conducted research into artificial environmental chemicals and breast cancer.Close
Jaci is a human resources specialist with over 25 years experience. She started her career in HR in 1988 working for the health service and is now employed in a more senior role in local government where she also has responsibility for managing a payroll team. Jaci has experience of project management, organisational development, business coaching, and culture change management. For the past 10 years Jaci has also held the role of local authority school governor where she is a member of 4 committees including the pay and performance committee which she chairs. Jaci became a Trustee in 2008.
‘Too many friends have told me that they have been diagnosed with this terrible condition and it terrifies me that either or both of my daughters will one day deliver the same news. David is Managing Director of Golden Eagle Luxury Trains the company which operates the luxury holiday train on the iconic Trans-Siberian railway and manages the promotion of this product in the global market.
David has been a director with responsibility for commercial policy and product development for a number of businesses in his working life.

David has been a Trustee of Prevent Breast Cancer since 2007.
Pam is director of Consultantcare, a Practice Management service for the maintenance and development of medical specialists at various treatment centres in the North West.
A Trustee of Prevent Breast Cancer since 1996, Pam remains incredibly committed and passionate about the charity. She played a vital role in raising £2 million towards the The Nightingale Centre, by encouraging the local community to fundraise and support our vision of Europe’s first purpose built breast cancer prevention centre.Close
Diana Harris, mother of 2 lovely daughters, Maddie and Olivia, is passionate about making a difference, which is why she got involved with Prevent Breast Cancer. Diana has over 25 years Marketing and Innovation experience with well-known UK, European and Global businesses, helping their brands to grow.
Now running her own consultancy “aha innovation”, Diana wants to put her skills to good use in her role as a Prevent Breast Cancer Trustee. Appointed in April 2014, Diana aims to help the team grow the charity in terms of awareness, recognition and funds. A keen cyclist, Diana has just bought a lovely new bike in Prevent Breast Cancer colours for her own fund raising efforts with her friends and family. Christine Lee-Jones is the former Head Mistress of Manchester High School for Girls and the areas of expertise she brings to Prevent Breast Cancer are organisational leadership, the management of change, strategic planning and fundraising. She has been a trustee of Prevent Breast Cancer since 2012 and as a trustee of two other charities she also brings to the board her experience of trust governance.
Christine was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2011 following routine screening and is passionate about the work of the charity in funding research to prevent this disease.
Charles is a Partner at Sheppards Chartered Accountants in Altrincham. His skills as a Chartered Accountant are in advising clients in accounts, taxation, and a wide range of business matters. Charles draws on his experience in these areas in his role as Honorary Treasurer of Genesis.
Charles’s involvement with Prevent Breast Cancer began in the late 1990’s following the death of his wife from the disease.Close
John is a Financial professional with over 20 years of experience and is currently the Finance Director of a Manchester based Housing Association. John became a Trustee in 2008 after working with the Charity through his MBA programme at Manchester Business School.

Consultant Radiologist and Director of the Greater Manchester Breast Screening Programme, Mary heads up one of the largest breast screening programmes in Europe. She has an unrivalled experience of breast imaging most recently in digital mammography and now mammographic tomosynthesis.
