James specialises in breast reconstruction and is also involved in research into breast cancer and breast reconstruction. James’ interests include increasing access to breast reconstruction and improving the quality of life for women choosing reconstructive surgery. James is also Chair of our Medical Advisory Board (MAB) and a member of the Prevent Breast Cancer Scientific Advisory Board (SAB).Close
Nicola is one of the Breast and Oncoplastic surgeons working in The Nightingale Centre. She specialises in treating all types of breast cancer, with a particular interest in pre-invasive cancers. She regularly teaches undergraduate medical students and is involved in national research projects looking at the outcomes of breast cancer surgery.Close
Founder and Chairman of Prevent Breast Cancer , Lester Barr, was instrumental in helping to plan and design the Genesis Breast Cancer Prevention Centre in collaboration with the Nightingale NHS Breast Screening Centre.
Lester is also a Consultant Breast Surgeon with a particular expertise in breast reconstruction. He has recently conducted research into artificial environmental chemicals and breast cancer.
Soujanya is an expert in breast imaging, and in the ‘mammotome’ non-surgical breast biopsy technique. As a woman from the UK Asian community she has a particular connection and desire to improve breast awareness and early diagnosis among that community.Close
Richard specialises in breast reconstruction, and has recently published data on the new technique of Strattice reconstruction. He also has expertise in the technique of lipo-modelling or ‘fat transfer’ for women who have had breast cancer surgery.Close
Cliona is a Consultant Breast Surgeon at UHSM and a Senior Clinical Research Scientist with a particular interest in how breast cancer can affect blood clotting mechanisms and how this phenomenon might lead to new blood tests for cancer or even new treatments. Cliona is also the Chair of our Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) and a member of our Medical Advisory Board (MAB).

Dr Lim specialises in breast cancer diagnosis. He is in charge of a project partly funded by Prevent Breast Cancer called the TOMMY trial. This is a new form of mammography that produces 3D images, and Dr Lim is hopeful from the early experience of this new technique that it may lead to improved early diagnosis of very small breast cancers and the detection of early pre-cancer changes.

John’s specialist area within the NHS is exclusively breast disease and breast related problems, i.e. breast cancer surgery, breast reconstruction, fat transfer and aesthetic breast surgery as well as complex revision breast surgery.He is also an active trainer, participating in the teaching of trainee breast and plastic surgeons at both local and national levels.Close
Mary is Director of the Greater Manchester Breast Screening Programme (GMBSP), one of the largest breast screening programmes in Europe and she has unrivalled experience of breast imaging most recently in digital mammography and now mammographic tomosynthesis.
